Churchill Recruitment

Equally as important as the questions that you will be asked are the questions that you ask your interviewer. Think of some pertinent questions that will highlight your research and also show that you are aware of the key issues surrounding the company and its market.

Your recruitment consultant will be able to help with information on what is happening at the company and also if there is anything that they are particularly proud of, for example an industry leading training programme. Typical questions could include:

  • How has this vacancy arisen?
  • How would you describe the company culture?
  • How would you describe the company's values?
  • What do you see as the key challenges of this role?
  • How do you differentiate yourselves from your competitors?
  • What are the organisation's major business objectives in the coming year?
  • How are employees measured in terms of performance?
  • What processes exist to support employees in their career development?
  • What key issues currently face the organisation?
  • What can I expect to be involved in during my first six months of joining?
  • What are the department's priorities during the next six months?

Whatever the questions you ask, make sure that they are pertinent and make sure that you do not ask for basic information that you would be expected to find out for yourself.

Be prepared for some questions to be turned back onto yourself, for example you may be asked what you see as the key challenges of the role.

There are, of course, some things that you do not ask during the interview process, the main one being questions about salaries. This will be dealt with by your recruitment consultant who is in a better position to negotiate your salary and benefits for you.
